Bala and Penllyn has been an inspiration to artists and craftspeople for generations. There is proactive group of artists who regularly exhibit their work in ‘Cantref Canolfan Y Plase – The Heritage Centre’ in Bala throughout the year.

There are also a wealth of lectures, courses and events hosted at these venues - keep an eye on the calendar for what's on.

Tan yr Hall Gallery

Bala.  From wonderful original works of art to the smallest print, oriel Tan yr Hall gallery in Bala, Gwynedd, aims to have something for everyone's taste and pocket.

Canolfan y Plase

Bala  Exhibitions of artistic and historical interest are regularly staged. Music, agriculture, education, culture, sports, famous people, bridges and roads, transport, old industries, religion and architecture.

Penrhyn Castle

(Bangor) has two galleries providing an exhibition venue for local artists.

Hen Feudy (Tywyn)

The Hen Feudy Gallery and garden offers exhibition space for pictures.

Llwyngwril Gallery 

is found in the pretty village of Llwyngwril, on the A493 between Dolgellau and Tywyn.

 

Bodelwyddan Castle

near St. Asaph is a regional partner of the National Portrait Gallery, housing many wonderful portraits from the 19th Century collections of the London-based national museum.

Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery

(Near Pwllheli) has long been associated with art as it was purpose built to house the widow’s own art collection. With its magnificent Jacobean staircase, hammer beam roof and 10 airy gallery spaces, it rightly bears the name Gallery in the Vale of the Widow. Indeed Lady Love Jones Parry’s ghost is occasionally seen walking the upper landings.

 

Rob Piercy Gallery

(Porthmadog)  The watercolours and prints of Rob Piercy, based in Porthmadog, North Wales. Including images of Snowdonia, Portmeirion, Cumbria & Scotland.

Bodelwyddan Castle

(Denbighshire) a magnificent restored Victorian mansion is the home of the National Portrait Gallery.

The Glass Blobbery

(Near Bala) all sorts of handmade glass sculptures including glass animals, glass flowers, glass dragons and other glass sea creatures all bespoke and lovingly hand made at our studio.


 

Trefriw Woollen Mills

(Near Llanrwst) Celebrating 150 years in the same family, the mill manufactures traditional Welsh bedspreads, throws and tweeds from the raw wool.

 

Inigo Jones Slateworks

(Near Caernarfon) Inigo Jones Slate Works was founded in 1861 primarily to produce school writing slates. Today the company produces architectural memorial craft products and garden products from natural welsh slate.

Parc Glynllifon

(near Caernarfon) Special events on selected weekends.  Craft and design workshops, gallery and shop.

Coed-y-Dinas, Garden, Home & Country Centre

(Near Welshpool) The company’s drive and vision has led an ambitious project to convert some of the finest Welsh Victorian agricultural buildings into a destination garden centre.

 

 

Meirion Mill

(Dinas Mawddwy) Meirion Mill, which stands at the heart of the beautiful Welsh mountains, is famous for its wide range of woollen and other  products.

 

The Old Station

(Welshpool)  The Old Station, Welshpool offers a unique opportunity for both the holiday maker and the local visitor to shop in one of the most elegant listed buildings in the area. The building itself is steeped in history and was designed in the style of a French Chateau by local craftsmen.

 

The Original Butterfly Man

(Near Corwen)  If you venture into the tiny lanes between Carrog and Llangollen in South Denbighshire, you may be puzzled to stumble across a white farm-cottage cloaked in a colourful mist of giant butterflies.

Machinations

(Llanbrynmair) We are the only permanent exhibition of contemporary Automata (mechanical moving models) in the UK.

(Mold) The centre offers a unique and exciting environment to view various arts and crafts of our rich Welsh culture, including jewellery, antiques, silk flowers, traditional pine furniture, handbags, clothing and much more.

Potteries:

 

Anvil Pottery

is situated in the small Denbighshire village of Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, between Denbigh and Ruthin in Denbighshire, North Wales.  Specialises in stoneware and earthenware pots with an emphasis on use rather than ornament.

 

Brookhouse Pottery

The pottery is housed in an 18th. century woollen mill which was later used as a brewery hence the name The Malt House. The mill is situated on the banks of the river Ystrad, on the outskirts of the market town of Denbigh, in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd in North Wales. 'Potters in Stoneware and Porcelain'

 

Glaze Away

(Colwyn Bay) pottery painting studio is designed to encourage people to tap into their creative side by painting on unglazed pottery which is then glazed and fired in our onsite kilns, ready for you to return to collect your own unique piece of ceramic art.

 

 

Spectrum Gallery,

(Machynlleth) Works made from coiled, grogged clay and soda fired in a wood kiln to stoneware temperatures, using locally sourced slips and ash glazes.
